electroacupuncture

In China, some thyroid operations are even carried out under anesthesia using electroacupuncture in order to spare the patient general anesthesia if they so wish.

moxibustion

Moxibustion means the warming of acupuncture points, the acupuncture needle or different areas of the body with moxa herb. Moxa is a "cigar" made from medicinal plants, which is lit to strengthen acupuncture. The inhaled herbal smoke is pleasant as it has a calming effect.

The acupuncture needles can also be heated with the moxa to further increase their effect. When moxing, small amounts of dried fine mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) burned on or above moxibustion points in the form of "moxa cigars" "moxa cones". The heat generated by this mugwort powder penetrates deep into the body and stimulates the circulation of Qi and blood and activates the body's own defences. Moxa therapy is used, for example, in diseases caused by internal or external cold, such as joint pain with prolonged coldtefront. In addition, as a preventive measure, Immune stimulation the erfolg. How does acupuncture work?

The doctor stimulates the point with the acupuncture needle the via meridians with the diseased or painful body part connected is. The stimulus releases Impulses which in turn are passed on to the dorsal horn neurons via the nerve fibers and reduce or even block their electrical excitability and thus affect pain perception. People often talk about reflex therapy, whereby pathological reflex circuits are suppressed and pain is eliminated.

The puncture itself is almost pain free. Often it is followed by a slight Feeling of heaviness, warmth or tightness and relief afterwards.  After a few minutes, the body will relax, arms and legs will feel lighter. Many patients report a feeling of flow in the body, which is felt more strongly from one session to the next. The Chinese interpret these sensations as Expression of Qi flow.

acupuncture sessions in acute illnesses carried out relatively frequently (up to once a day), in chronic illness mostly twice a week (for 6 to 10 weeks). A session lasts between 20 and 45 minutes. Usually in acute illnesses 3-6 sessions, in chronic 12-20 sessions are required for operation.
